Chant d’oiseau - Woluwe-Saint-Pierre

Initiated in 2009-2010, this project began in the Chant d’oiseau neighbourhood, mainly residential and extending around the Parvis des Franciscains. Led by a group of nine residents, Chant d’Oiseau has taken on the challenge of becoming a real sustainable neighbourhood: convivial, socially conscious and respectful of the environment.

Five themes for action have been chosen, supported by working groups: sustainable food, preservation of biodiversity, composting, saving energy and “soft” mobility. Various specific activities are then conducted: an information evening on energy, a cooking workshop, a visit to a Natagora-certified garden, etc. A collective composting site has also been created and is highly successful. The municipality actively supports the project, and the residents are regularly invited to contribute to it via evenings organised as an opportunity to get together.
