A Bruxelles, découvrez:

CPAS (public centre for social welfare), rue Vanpe

The project is located in a building from the 1930s. The CPAS of Forest brought together its various services there in 2005.  To preserve the façade (exterior walls, windows and doors), the walls have been insulated from the inside by 20 cm of cellulose.
The previous original steel window frames have been kept in the façade, but new high-performance frames have been put inside to ensure the thermal and acoustic comfort of the users. To avoid thermal bridges at the junction line between the concrete slabs and façade, the slabs have been cut out and insulation has been placed between the slabs and the façade.
The premises are cooled exclusively by a passive cooling system. The system used is called “natural night cooling”. Heating needs have been reduced to 28 kWh/m²/yr (Brussels average: 106). Thirty square metres of photovoltaic panels provide part of the electricity supply for the building. It has an extensive green roof and the central courtyard has been planted.
