De Rinck

In Anderlecht, this new cultural and social centre is an example with regard to environmental impact: it reduces energy consumption (25 kWh/m2.yr) and noise nuisances as much as possible. It replaces previous buildings devoted to the same activities, but suffering from structural, thermal and ventilation problems.
Active night cooling, a ground-coupled heat exchanger, and adiabatic cooling are among the solutions used. Twenty-two square metres of photovoltaic panels produce 1.71 MWh. Rainwater recovery supplies 76% of the needs for the toilets. A new green space is to be developed on the site of the demolished buildings, and a 575 m2 extensive green roof has been installed.
he complex is accessible to persons with reduced mobility and those visually impaired. An effort has also been made to optimally soundproof the various rooms during construction, and by acoustically decoupling them.
