Georges Henri Park

Located along the avenue of the same name, the multifunctional Georges Henri Park was developed in the 80s, on the site of the disused Etterbeek cemetery.

The population as a whole having expressed their opinion at the time it was created, it was believed that their wishes should be fulfilled. This accounts for the plurality in the layout of the park, very fashionable at the time.

The structure of the former cemetery was maintained. The rows of chestnuts and lindens have been preserved. Old tombstones have been used to pave the paths. In Meudon Square, the main entrance is marked by two obelisks, also vestiges of the old cemetery.

The park opens onto a large round basin where a powerful fountain rises. This space is the centre from which the principal lanes of the park radiate. They lead to different parcels: a scent garden, classical gardens, a fitness trail, a remembrance garden with a Jewish memorial, a very varied recreational space and a new playground.

Now confronted with various problems (settling of the ground, ageing trees, plant species poorly adapted to the nature of the subsoil), the park must have a new management plan.
