Messidor - Forest and Uccle

Launched in March 2011, this project is being developed in the Messidor City neighbourhood, built in 1950 near the Avenues du Globe and Denayer and Altitude 100. The Neighbourhood Committee initiating the project wants to mobilise the maximum number of residents to consider and act on their way of living together, consuming, travelling, heating and eating. The project proposes activities on the following themes. Climate: publication of the carbon balance of the city. Energy: insulation of houses, energy audit, energy consumption. Biodiversity and bees: teaching projects based around two hives, garden management. Waste: individual or collective composting, waste reduction and sorting. Water: collective purchase and installation of rainwater cisterns. Mobility: production of a neighbourhood access card. Food: collective purchasing, organic food baskets, consideration of consumption. Supportive and multi-generational neighbourhood: mutual aid between residents of the city and neighbourhood parties. The steering group comes from the Messidor Neighbourhood Committee and collaborates with the municipalities of Uccle and Forest and about ten public and private partners.
