MUNDO-B
In order to ‘practice what they preach’, several associations in the sustainable sector took on group acquisition and renovation of a building.
With limited means available, they took the approach of plain finishings and simple fittings so as to transfer the savings to sustainable solutions, consideration of future financial savings, and a search for the best “environmental performance/costs” ratio.
The renovation has resulted in an energy consumption figure of 54kWh/m2.yr. Materials have been chosen as a function of their ecological quality: hemp wool, linoleum, FSC wood, etc. The cooling system is adiabatic. Photovoltaic panels have been installed over 100m2. The project is supplemented by an extensive green roof and a rainwater cistern. To minimise the amount of waste, several construction materials have been reused.
