This apartment project takes advantage of the fact that a neighbouring building is located lower to build onto and expand the small existing residence on the roof into a more spacious residence, almost doubling the living area while improving its energy performance.
The extension is completely built of FSC wood (structure, façade cladding, and dividing walls) in the form of box sections insulated with cellulose. In the spirit of eco-construction, reuse of materials is emphasised. Thus, the recent window frames, the condensing boiler and the recovered mineral wool will be incorporated into the project. Heating consumption for the residence is limited to 23kWh/m2.yr.
Six square metres of thermal solar panels supply 63% of the domestic hot water needs and backup heating, at minimal cost. Extensive green roofs and a 250 L rainwater cistern are part of this sustainable project.
