Rue de la plume

Conducted by the Brussels Foyer and located between the Place du Jeu de Balle and the Rue des Mésanges, the aim of the project is to build two parallelepipeds of dimensions proportional to those of existing buildings. It provides eight social housing units, four of which have a garden.
Each space includes two duplexes on the lower levels, with their respective gardens, and two south-oriented upper duplexes. The upper duplexes each have a roof terrace laid out as an extensive green roof. The surface of the parcel is thus almost entirely planted, providing habitats for biodiversity and at the same time promoting infiltration into the soil and alleviating the load on the sewerage system during heavy rainfall.
The building achieves the passive level (limitation of heating needs to 15 kWh/m²/yr). Ventilation with heat recovery and exterior sun protection are planned. Domestic hot water is preheated with the aid of 40 m2 of solar panels. These cover 50% of the needs.
