Rue de Vriere
This single-family house is nestled between two adjacent buildings of very different volumes and styles. A compact residence, it complies with passive house standards and the principles of bioclimatic design.
It is provided with mobile sun protection and a ventilation system combined with a ground-coupled heat exchanger. Opting for a prefabricated wood frame has allowed the cost of construction to be reduced while limiting the environmental impact of the works to a minimum.
carefully considered energy design ranks very high on the list of exemplary buildings. The heating needs of the house are in addition reduced to only 36 kWh/m2.yr (Brussels average: 150). Rainwater is collected in a 4 m3 cistern. Positioning the house on an elevation has created a perspective between the street and the back of the garden. In this way passersby and neighbours can enjoy a small green area opening toward the street.
