Rue du Biplan
The Biplan project aimed to create a passive housing building on the edge of the Brussels-Capital Region. The building has a wood frame combined with cellulose insulation. The materials used are ecological (FSC wood frame, natural sealants).
The low energy consumption (13kWh/ m2.yr) is principally due to the shell of the building, its orientation, its high level of insulation and its airtightness. The project also has extensive and intensive (vegetable garden) green roofs, a rainwater recovery system and a local treatment station for grey water.
The collective facilities create a sense of belonging and participation in the group residence: a common laundry room with a solar hot water washing machine, a collective vegetable garden installed on the green roof, a guest room common to the eight flats, a meeting room in the garden, and a common cellar.
