Rue du moulin

How can low-energy renovation be reconciled with conscientious respect for the architectural character of a building? To achieve this, those responsible for this renovation, careful to preserve the period character of the building (exposed brick, recovered window frames, identical restoration, etc.), have used FSC wood for the insulation and cladding, and certified hemp wool panels.
They have also opted for diversity in provision of energy. Thus, the needs for heat and domestic hot water are covered by a pellet boiler, with a noteworthy consumption of 23 kWh/m2.yr achieved. The roof is covered with 80m2of photovoltaic collectors.
A 12 m3 rainwater cistern covers needs for laundry, watering the garden and toilets. Extensive green roofs and a garden “in motion” (wild garden) are part of the revegetation of the site.
