Rue du tilleul

The special feature of this project is the combination of low-energy renovation and protection of heritage, involving five single-family residences located on the listed site of the former windmill in Evere.
From the mill and street side, the façades are preserved and insulated from the interior. In the rear section, the existing annexes are replaced by gardens and the façades are insulated from the outside and reworked with a contemporary aesthetic.
The old window frames have been kept and a new frame guarantees continuity of the insulation. A double-flow mechanical ventilation system has been installed. Heating is provided by a gas condensing boiler.
The reduction in losses due to work on the shell, as well as heat exchangers in each residence, allow the average consumption to go from 384 kWh/m2.yr to 26 kWh/m2.yr. Each occupant has the right to his own garden space in the interior courtyard.
