Rue Engeland
This typical Brussels row house dates from 1934. It has been renovated and markedly improved with regard to architecture and energy performance, targeting a heating consumption of 28kWh/m2.yr. On the ground floor, the rear façade is open along almost all its width and over its entire height.
A sunroom has been installed against the rear façade, on the roof of the annex. This creates continuity between the interior and exterior spaces and an opportunity to take maximum advantage of natural light.
A wood-framed extension of the roof allows an additional room to be built on the first floor that will serve as an office for the client. The flat roof of the extension allows south-oriented thermal solar panels to be installed. The materials used are ecological and the 5m3 rainwater cistern supplies the toilet facilities and laundry and waters the garden.
