The Brussels CPAS (Public Welfare Centre) is developing a quality charter for construction of new housing in Brussels, tending toward zero-carbon buildings while keeping an acceptable level of profitability.
This project to build three passive residences is a step in this overall initiative, incorporating the following features: use of ecological materials: FSC wood, cellulose, linoleum, gypsum/cellulose dividing walls heating needs of less than 15 kWh/m2.yr centralised ventilation on the ground floor to facilitate maintenance, and use of a hydraulic post-heating battery supplied by the gas boiler use of thermal (12m2) and photovoltaic (12m2) solar panels rainwater recovery for the toilets: 5000 L cistern creation of common areas for waste storage and sorting. All these measures are accompanied by an awareness and training program in use and management of these buildings for the tenants.
