Rue Kessels
The two levels of the child care centre are organised around a large hall with a waiting area providing a 48-seat capacity. Four living units with direct access to the terrace and garden are intended for the children. The 40 housing units create an intergenerational dynamic.
The efficient insulation and airtightness, related to the choice of technical solutions, allow heating consumption to be reduced to 34 kWh/m2.yr (Brussels average: 150). Acoustic insulation has received particular attention.
The ventilation system is equipped with a bypass. Renewable energies are an intrinsic part of the project, with 10 m2 of thermal solar panels and 10 m2 of photovoltaic panels as well as a cistern to recover rainwater. The buildings have extensive green roofs, while a garden intended for indigenous plants and composting will cover the paved courtyards.
