The renovation of the building aims to create 12 very-low-energy social housing units. It is located in a block containing seven buildings of social flats. The project is in keeping with the “Exemplary Buildings” initiative, notably in its incorporation of sustainable materials such as wood fibre.
To minimise the impact in terms of primary energy for heating the building, the designers opted for biomass, that is, use of a centralised pellet boiler, with a resulting consumption of 29 kWh/m2.yr.
But the client envisages development of a collective system for heating all the buildings. Likewise, installation of a ground-coupled heat exchanger for all the buildings is envisaged, recovering 5000 kWh/m2.yr in heat and dissipating 2900 kWh/m2.yr. Forty square metres of photovoltaic panels and 25 m2 of thermal panels have been installed.
