Rue potagère
The project consisted of converting a neoclassical building by occupying the habitable rooms on the ground floor and upper storeys and creating a very light-filled circulation/vertical buffer area in the back of the building.
The insulation materials involve little “grey” energy: cellulose, wood fibre, FSC/PEFC wood, etc. The insulation (from the interior) and the techniques used allow a low-energy level to be achieved, with heating consumption reduced to 44 kWh/m2.yr.
The building is cooled by transverse natural ventilation. Ten square metres of thermal solar panels provide part of the energy savings. The kitchen area occupies a central position in the building, facilitating movement and allowing a pedagogic and educational theme to be developed involving the kitchen and the child care centre. The back of the property is occupied by a park.
