Service pavilion

For its first service pavilion, the Brussels Regional Development Agency (BRDA) has chosen the Galilei site in Neder-over- Heembeek. This 388 m2passive building includes a dining area, meeting hall, newspaper stand and outside terrace. The client is leaving it to the future tenant to carry out the interior finishing.
The heating needs of the building are reduced to 12 kWh/m².yr (Brussels average: 150). Various facilities allow ventilation and any overheating in the kitchen to be controlled. The building has triple glazing, thermal and photovoltaic solar collectors and an extensive green roof.
Among the materials used are certified wood and cellulose. The client has set up an information programme on the special features of passive buildings and on-site coaching for the workers by an expert for proper implementation of insulation and airtightness.
