Terdelt sur son 21 - Schaerbeek

Initiated in 2009-2010, this project involves the garden city of Terdelt, built in 1920 and densely populated by a socially diverse population. The project draws the attention of residents to the issues of sustainable development. Three thematic groups have been created. The Environmental Group conducts very specific projects such as distribution and planting of aromatic plants, exchange and reproduction of indigenous plants, installation of shelters for bees, etc. The Mobility Group aims to facilitate local use of the bicycle (with, among other things, a mobile repair workshop) and to improve mobility for isolated persons in the neighbourhood. The Resource Group analyses the flows entering and leaving the neighbourhood and works on management of green waste (individual and collective composting) and water. The Environmental Group and the Resource Group have a joint ecological gardening project. The steering group originated from the Terdelt Neighbourhood Committee non-profit organisation, representing 200 households and active within the neighbourhood for 20 years. The project is conducted in partnership with the municipality, the Schaerbeek Foyer and various supporting associations or resources.
