“Toutes les couleurs” child care centre
The renovation of the “Toutes les Couleurs” child care centre involves mainly the ground floor of the building. The choice of a biomass boiler allows annual discharge of 4.5 tonnes of CO2 to be avoided compared to a traditional boiler.
And the solar water heater (22 m²of collectors)allows CO2 emissions to be reduced by 2.3 tonnes per year. Thanks also to good insulation of all the parts of the building, the energy consumption is only 29 kWh/m²/yr (Brussels average: 106). The green roof allows a quantity of rainwater amply sufficient for the toilets and maintenance of the premises to be recovered.
In addition, every attempt is made not to discharge excess rainwater into the sewers, but to let it infiltrate to the maximum into the ground. Special attention has also been paid to the ecological use of materials.
